We are pleased to offer expert repairs & restorations - from set-up to extensive restorations - for violins, violas, cellos and basses. Ms. Belongia relies on more than 15 years of expertise and is active in seeking new knowledge to improve her craft. She utilizes only the highest quality materials in her work. If you have an instrument in need of repair, please contact us and we will set up an  appointment to evaluate the instrument and provide you with a detailed estimate.

Melanie is highly regarded for her tonal adjustments. Many years of experience as a professional musician and as a luthier have led to a passionate understanding of how the instrument functions as a whole and how to adjust the instrument to compliment an individual player's needs. This is heart of a violin maker's work and a skilled practice that we feel fortunate to offer our clients.

Averaging four - six instruments a year, her violins are based on a Guarneri Del Gesu pattern. She has been making two viola patterns, a 16” and a 15 1/2” of her own design. Melanie's cellos are patterned after  Stradivarius’ “Gore-Booth” of 1710. An innovative 5-string violin (a violin/viola hybrid, tuned C|G|D|A|E) is also available. Though 15", it is a comfortable instrument to play, and has all the warmth and depth of a viola's low end without compromise to the upper register.  While there is sometimes a short wait for her instruments, customers have found them well worth waiting for.

In addition to instruments hand-crafted by Ms. Belongia, we have a select inventory of instruments available. Please contact us at 757-232-5087 or belongiaviolins@gmail.com to let us know your needs and we will be happy to assist you in your search for the perfect instrument.
